A supposedly light-hearted re-enactent of local history when the highly manoeuvrable but poorer Shaldon punt with its pilot used to compete with the larger and sometimes faster, more affluent Teignmouth gig for the business of piloting ships into the harbour. Reliable historians assure us that the Shaldon punt regularly outmanoeuvred and outwitted the Teignmouth crew.
